The key to a long-lasting salon-quality gel manicure is the proper nail prep. Preparing the cuticles and nails before applying gel polish is very important and we have a variety of nail prep products that will ensure your at-home manicure success. You can start with our cuticle remover, Bye Bye Cuticles, a water-based gel that softens excess cuticles for easy removal or push-back. Once you have prepared the cuticles, you will want to use our Sanding Sponge to file, shape, and buff the nail surface. Then using our Nail Cleanser Prep Pads you’ll want to wipe away all the dust & oils from your nails. It is important to have a very clean nail so the gel adheres to the nail surface better, ensuring a long-lasting chip-free mani.

Achieving the perfect manicure starts way before you apply any gel polish to your nails. Preparing the nails and cuticles with the proper nail prep products is what makes the perfect manicure truly shine! Softening your cuticles and carefully trimming them with a cuticle trimmer will give the base of your nails a clean, healthy and well groomed look. Then once you have decided on the shape of nail you want (square, round, oval, almond, ballerina, etc..) you can use our all-in-one 4 Ways Buffer to file and shape the tip of your nails using the file side. It is important to only use the file side for shaping and never on the surface or your nail, as the grit of the file side could damage the top of your nails. You will want to use the buff side for the top of your nail surface to prepare your nail for gel polish. Once your cuticles and nails are ready, remember to clean the nails from any dust and oils, then you’re ready for the perfect mani!
