To remove gel polish safely at home, start by gently filing the shiny top layer until the surface looks matte. Apply acetone-soaked removal wraps and leave them on for around 15 minutes. Once the gel has softened, gently remove it with a gel polish remover tool, working from the cuticle toward the free edge. Never force or peel off gel that hasn’t fully softened.

Gel polish removal should not require pulling, peeling or aggressive scraping. The key is to break the top seal, allow enough time for the remover to soften the gel and then gently remove the loosened product. If the gel doesn’t come away easily, soak it for longer rather than forcing it off.
